Dental implant restoration is just one step in the process of replacing your teeth with implants. It’s also the step that is most commonly performed at other dentists’ offices in St. George, Utah, and beyond. At Gateway Oral Health Center, Drs. Bruce Eagar, Matthew Geddes, and Andy Mohlman all have the advanced training to surgically place implants, too!
By handling every step in the process of rebuilding smiles, we provide many benefits to our patients:
Dental restorations are largely the parts of the teeth that are visible when you smile. At other clinics, dentists may place a dental restoration following the surgical insertion of an implant by an oral surgeon or another specialist. If you are replacing one tooth, a dental crown is connected to the implant, which is secure in the jawbone. If you are replacing more than one tooth, a dental bridge or denture (full-arch restoration) is attached to at least two dental implants. At Gateway Oral Health Center, our dentists are skilled at planning, designing, and securing dental restorations, but that is just the “finishing touch” and final step in the implants process.
Many of our patients are surprised by the ease of the actual surgery. We may place your implants with local anesthesia only (though relaxing sedation is available). Once you are numb and relaxed, the implants are precisely placed through small openings. The implant is then allowed to heal, a process that can take several months. After the implant has healed or grown into the surrounding bone in the jaw, it is ready to function as a tooth root! Each implant is then restored with a crown, or with a bridge or full-arch restoration/denture as needed.
We are a biological dentistry practice. This means you can trust that we use only the best and safest dental materials, products, and technologies. As it relates to implants, we only place ceramic (metal-free) implants. They are safe for patients with concerns over metal sensitivities and are also highly aesthetic (tooth-colored) and durable. Our patients are highly satisfied with their ceramic implants. We also offer mini-implants, which are smaller in diameter than “standard” implants. They are a good solution for those with bone loss who are not good candidates for bone grafting.
