What is biological dentistry?

Patients who visit Gateway Oral Health Center of St. George, Utah, often seek treatments with trained and experienced dental providers. However, looking for a dentist who provides biological dentistry to ensure you are doing right by your smile is always a smart idea! Dr. Bryce Eagar and his team work directly with patients to provide quality biological and holistic dental care to patients in the community, ensuring oral health and wellness–and the added benefits of maintaining overall health as well!

What are the advantages of working with a biological dentist?

There are many benefits to visiting a biological dentist, including cleaning your teeth and taking care of any tooth decay or other dental problems you may have. Biological dentists also use safer, more natural products and procedures than traditional dentists. This means that you can avoid exposure to harmful chemicals and materials, and you may even be able to improve your overall health by visiting a biological dentist.

A perfect example of this is silver amalgam fillings. In the past, silver amalgam fillings were commonly used to fill cavities. However, silver amalgam fillings contain mercury, which can be toxic. Biological dentists use safer, more natural materials to fill cavities, such as composite resins.

Another benefit of visiting a biological dentist is that they can help you choose the right toothpaste and mouthwash. Many traditional kinds of toothpaste and mouthwash contain fluoride, which has been linked to health problems such as cancer. Fluoride is also a neurotoxin, meaning it can damage the nervous system. Biological dentists usually recommend fluoride-free toothpaste and mouthwashes to their patients.
